R-1234yf is a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant adopted as the automotive industry standard to replace R-134a in new vehicle air conditioning systems. It carries a global warming potential (GWP) of 4, compared to 1,430 for R-134a, meeting EU MAC Directive (2006/40/EC) requirements and equivalent international low-GWP regulations. This 11 lb cylinder is packaged for professional automotive workshop use.
R-1234yf is the required refrigerant in most passenger vehicles manufactured from approximately 2014 onward, with adoption varying by manufacturer and model year. It is not interchangeable with R-134a and requires dedicated R-1234yf service equipment with unique SAE J2888-compliant fittings. The 11 lb cylinder is compatible with professional R-1234yf recovery, recycling, and recharging machines.
R-1234yf is classified as mildly flammable (A2L). Service must be performed using dedicated R-1234yf equipment — not R-134a tools.
